Frequently asked questions

How does Pawse block my apps?

Pawse uses Apple's built-in Screen Time (Family Controls) to block the apps you choose. When you first set up Pawse, iOS asks for permission to manage Screen Time — this is what lets Pawse put up a shield in front of your distracting apps. Everything happens on your device; Pawse never sees the content of the apps you block.

How does Pawse count my reps?

Pawse uses your device's camera together with Apple's on-device pose detection to count squats and push-ups in real time. The camera feed is processed entirely on your iPhone — no video or photos are ever recorded, saved, or uploaded. When your workout ends, nothing about it leaves your device except the rep count you earned.

Is my camera or workout video sent anywhere?

No. Rep counting runs 100% on your device. Pawse does not record, store, or transmit any camera footage. We only keep the final numbers (like how many reps you did) so you can see your progress — and even those stay on your phone.

My reps aren't being counted correctly. What can I do?

Rep counting works best when your whole body is visible to the camera in good lighting. Prop your phone up a few feet away so it can see you, and make sure the room isn't too dark. Squats are the most reliable exercise; push-ups can be trickier depending on your camera angle. If it's still off, try switching exercises or adjusting the phone's position.

I earned time but my app is still blocked.

After you complete an exercise, Pawse unlocks your apps for the time you earned. If the shield comes back too soon, first make sure your unlock time hasn't run out. If it happens right after unlocking, force-quit Pawse and reopen it, then try the app again. If the problem persists, email us with your setup (which apps, always-on vs. schedule) and we'll help.

Can I switch which exercise I do?

Yes. You set a default exercise in Settings, but right from the shield you can switch to the other exercise for that unlock — handy if you can't do push-ups in that moment. The number of reps stays the same so the challenge is fair.

What is the Emergency Break?

Sometimes you genuinely need into a blocked app right now. The Emergency Break gives you a limited number of instant unlocks each day, no exercise required. It resets daily. It's there so Pawse always helps you — it should never leave you stuck.

How do subscriptions and billing work?

Pawse offers a subscription that unlocks the full experience, with a free trial so you can try it first. Payment is charged to your Apple ID, and subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel any time in your iPhone's Settings → your name → Subscriptions.

How do I restore a purchase?

If you reinstalled Pawse or got a new phone, open the app and use the "Restore Purchases" option on the paywall or in Settings. Your subscription is tied to your Apple ID, so it will come back as long as you're signed in with the same account.

How do I delete my data?

Pawse doesn't ask for your name, email, or any personal details — your account is anonymous. To remove the small amount of anonymous data associated with your app, or if you have any privacy request, just email us at support@codexia.app and we'll take care of it.
